Ramadan is a blessed time in which we can draw closer to Allah and to our faith through our understanding of the Quranic teachings, our commitment to doing what is right, and our deep appreciation of Allah’s mercy. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) has encouraged his followers to be mindful of Allah’s blessing on this month. In the Holy Quran, it is written: “O you who believe, fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, so that you may learn self-restraint.” (2:183). Ramadan is not only a period for contemplation and reflection, but it is also a great time to deepen our love and understanding for Allah and for His mercy. As Muslims, we must strive to understand how Allah’s mercy and blessing can be manifested through fasting and obeying God’s commands.
