PRE-RAMADAN 2024: A LETTER TO SELF

Algazelus's Letter To Self
4.March.2024 - Ramadan Day 0

Dearest Self,

Bismillah Al-Rahman Al-Rahim,

As the blessed month of Ramadan is fast approaching, I wanted to take this opportunity to share some reflections with my dear brothers and sisters. We are facing unprecedented times with many challenges and hardships, both on a personal and global scale. As we prepare for the holy month of Ramadan, I would like to remind ourselves of the true purpose and importance of this month.

First and foremost, I would like to acknowledge the struggles and difficulties that we are facing as a community. The inflation, job cuts and rising mental health issues are all real and valid concerns that have significantly impacted our lives. We have also lost loved ones and witnessed the suffering of our fellow Muslim brothers and sisters in places like Gaza. Understandably, we may feel overwhelmed and hopeless in the face of these struggles. But as believers, we must remember that Allah (SWT) is the All-Wise and He has a plan for each and every one of us. We must trust in His divine wisdom and have faith that these challenges are a test of our faith and perseverance.

During these tough times, we must also remember the blessings that we have been bestowed with. Alhamdulillah, we are born Muslim, and our faith and belief in Allah (SWT) gives us the strength and courage to face these struggles. We have a source of hope and guidance in the Quran and Sunnah, and during this month of Ramadan, we are given the opportunity to reconnect with our faith and strengthen our relationship with Allah (SWT). Let us not lose sight of His mercy and blessings, no matter how difficult the circumstances may be.

Moreover, let us not forget that life in this world is a test, and as believers, we have been promised that we will face trials and tribulations. The month of Ramadan serves as a reminder that our ultimate goal is Jannah, and this life is temporary. As we fast and abstain from worldly desires, may we also reflect on the true purpose of our existence – to worship and please Allah (SWT). Let us use this month to purify our souls and return to Allah (SWT) with sincerity and devotion.

One of the challenges we are facing is the deterioration of our faith and lack of connection with our Creator. Our negligence towards our religious obligations has led to many of the issues we are currently facing. This month of Ramadan is an opportunity for us to repent and seek forgiveness from Allah (SWT). Let us use this time to re-establish our relationship with Him through prayer, recitation of the Quran, and acts of charity. May this month serve as a rejuvenation of our faith and a reminder of our duties towards our Creator and the creation.

Finally, I would like to remind us all to have hope and not fear. Let us remember that Allah (SWT) is the Most Merciful and He loves those who turn to Him in repentance. This month of Ramadan is a time for us to seek His mercy and forgiveness, and it is never too late to turn back to Him. Let us enter this month with a positive mindset and strive to make the most of it. May we use this opportunity to become better versions of ourselves and strengthen our relationship with Allah (SWT).

With love and faith,

Your Soul

Experiencing the Country's Best Coffee – A Review of the Library Coffee + Study

Algazelus 06.27.23 The latest addition to the list of famed coffee shops in the city of Zamboanga is no other than the Library Coffee + Study . This particular coffee shop is remarkable for providing both coffee and study services. On one end, they have separate rooms perfect for group study, and on the other, an array of ample space for individuals who prefer some peace and quiet while they study. Recently, I visited the Library Coffee + Study to have a sip of their specialty coffee and learn more about the character of this place. Prior to my visit, however, I was told that they serve an array of coffees ranging from iced cappuccino to hot Americano. My thirst for hot Americano, however, was long overdue and I was eager to take a seat and dig in. I have tasted several americanos in a range of coffee shops, if I may add, and this particular experience promised to bruise my expectations. It turns out, the barista who served me informed me that they use imported arabica coffee bea...

Forging meaningful relationships by building trust is essential for optimal communication with fellow Muslims in Allah's will.

Algazelus 06.10.23 Muslims around the world adhere to the same core values of faith in Allah, performing the pillars of Islam, and the belief in the Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) teachings. Despite living in different societies and cultures, the bond to a shared tradition, language, and conviction is strong among believers of the Islamic faith. However, from time to time Muslims can experience misunderstandings and prejudices that can affect how the faithful communicate with each other. To ensure that every Muslim maintains strong communication, understanding, and appreciation for each other, here are some tips on how to strengthen communication with fellow Muslims in Allah's will. Firstly, it is important to keep an open mind and respect the individual opinions and values of fellow Muslims. To gain a better understanding of the experiences of others, it is advised to actively listen to their stories and perspectives on a particular issue with patience and empathy. This will allow ...

BATTLE OF JOLO: WHAT HAPPENED LAST FEBRUARY 7, 1974

BATTLE OF JOLO - FEBRUARY 7, 1974: OUR NARRATIVE Algazelus This is our narrative. February 7, 1974, is a date that is etched in the minds of every Tausug, including myself, as a crucial turning point in our history. It marks the day when the town of Jolo, in Sulu, was burned down by government forces as part of their fight against the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF). As a Tausug from Sulu, this event is not just a distant memory but a reality that still haunts us today. Despite being born years after the burning of Jolo, I have grown up listening to stories of the event from my elders and reading about it in history books. But it wasn’t until I reached adulthood that I fully understood the significance and impact of what happened on that fateful day. The burning of Jolo, also known as the siege of Jolo, was a military confrontation between the MNLF and the government of the Philippines. The MNLF, led by Nur Misuari, was fighting for the self-determination of the Bangsamoro people...
