"Reflect on 30 Aspects of Life We Can Improve During this Sacred Month of Ramadan"

Assalamu alaykum

Dear self,

As we enter the holy month of Ramadan, I want to take some time to reflect on 30 aspects of life that we can improve during this blessed time. This month is not just about abstaining from food and water, but it is also a time for spiritual growth, self-reflection, and self-improvement. I believe that by focusing on these aspects, we can make the most of this month and come out as better individuals.

1. Strengthening our faith: Ramadan is a time to reconnect with our faith and strengthen our relationship with Allah. Let us take this opportunity to increase our knowledge of Islam, read the Quran, and engage in acts of worship such as prayer, dua, and charity.

2. Forgive and seek forgiveness: It is said that Ramadan is the month of forgiveness. Let us forgive those who have wronged us and seek forgiveness from those we have wronged. This will not only bring peace to our hearts but also strengthen our relationships.

3. Practice patience: Fasting teaches us patience, and during this month, we should strive to practice patience in all aspects of our lives, whether it’s during long fasting hours or dealing with difficult situations.

4. Be empathetic: Ramadan is a time to practice empathy towards others. Let us try to understand the struggles of those who are less fortunate than us and lend a helping hand wherever we can.

5. Control our anger: It is said that the true test of your self-control is when you are angry. Let us use this month to control our anger and react with calmness and kindness.

6. Focus on self-care: It is essential to take care of our physical and mental health during Ramadan. Let us make it a priority to eat healthy, get enough rest, and engage in activities that bring us peace and joy.

7. Avoid gossip and negative talk: Ramadan is not just about refraining from eating and drinking but also about controlling our tongues. Let us avoid gossip and negative talk and instead use our words to spread kindness and positivity.

8. Practice gratitude: As we fast and experience hunger and thirst, let us be grateful for the blessings in our lives. Gratitude brings contentment and helps us appreciate the little things in life.

9. Stay away from distractions: In today’s fast-paced world, we are constantly bombarded with distractions. During Ramadan, let us limit our use of social media, television, and other distractions and focus on our spiritual growth.

10. Give back to the community: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was known for his generosity, and Ramadan is a time to follow in his footsteps. Let us give back to our community by volunteering, donating, or simply being kind to those around us.

11. Strengthen family bonds: Ramadan is a great time to strengthen our relationships with our family. Let us make an effort to spend quality time with our loved ones, engage in meaningful conversations, and make memories together.

12. Control our spending: During Ramadan, we should also strive to control our spending habits. Let us resist the urge to overspend on unnecessary things and instead focus on spending on things that benefit us and others.

13. Increase in acts of charity: The rewards for acts of charity are multiplied during Ramadan. Let us take this opportunity to give to those in need and benefit from the blessings of this month.

14. Be mindful of our thoughts: Our thoughts can have a significant impact on our actions and behaviors. Let us be mindful of our thoughts and strive to have positive, uplifting thoughts during this month.

15. Reflect on our blessings: As we experience hunger and thirst during the day, let us reflect on the many blessings in our lives and be grateful for them.

16. Connect with nature: Take some time during this month to connect with nature. Go for a walk, sit in the park, or simply admire the beauty of Allah’s creation. This will help us feel more grounded and connected to our creator.

17. Read the Quran with understanding: Ramadan is the month of the Quran, and we should make an effort to read and understand its message. Let us ponder over its verses and try to apply its teachings in our daily lives.

18. Pray in congregation: There is a special reward for praying in congregation, and we should make an effort to attend the taraweeh prayers at the mosque. This will also give us a sense of community and unity with our fellow Muslims.

19. Learn a new skill: Use the extra time during Ramadan to learn a new skill or improve an existing one. This will not only make us feel productive but also benefit us in our personal and professional life.

20. Drink plenty of water: It is crucial to stay hydrated during Ramadan, especially when we are fasting for long hours. Let us make sure to drink enough water during non-fasting hours to avoid dehydration.

21. Seek knowledge: In Islam, seeking knowledge is considered a highly virtuous act. Let us take this month as an opportunity to gain knowledge about our religion, other cultures, or any other topic that interests us.

22. Reflect on our mistakes: We are all human, and we make mistakes. Let us use this month to reflect on our mistakes, seek forgiveness, and make a sincere effort to improve ourselves.

23. Spend time in solitude: Amidst the chaos of our daily lives, it is crucial to take some time for ourselves. Use this month to disconnect from the world and spend some time in solitude, reflecting and getting closer to Allah.

24. Avoid wastage: As we learn to control our desires and refrain from food and water during the day, let us also strive to avoid wastage of food and water during Ramadan.

25. Be kind to ourselves: We are often our harshest critics, but during this month, let us be kind to ourselves. Give yourself a break from negative self-talk and focus on your strengths and accomplishments.

26. Seek forgiveness from Allah: Allah loves to forgive his servants, and during Ramadan, it is easier to seek forgiveness for our sins. Let us take advantage of this opportunity and ask for forgiveness with sincere hearts.

27. Keep our intentions pure: As we engage in acts of worship and good deeds, let us constantly remind ourselves to keep our intentions pure and solely for the sake of Allah.

28. Practice moderation: Islam teaches us to practice moderation in all aspects of our lives. Let us use this month to practice moderation in our eating, spending, and daily activities.

29. Make a dua list: During this blessed time, our duas are more likely to be accepted. Let us make a list of all the things we want to ask Allah for and make earnest dua every day.

30. Make a plan for after Ramadan: As the month comes to an end, let us set goals and make a plan to continue our spiritual growth and self-improvement even after Ramadan.

As we embark on this journey of self-improvement, may Allah protect us, bless us, forgive us, and accept our duas. Let us use this month as an opportunity to become better versions of ourselves and strengthen our relationship with Allah.

Love,

Your soul

Despite living in different societies and cultures, the bond to a shared tradition, language, and conviction is strong among believers of the Islamic faith. However, from time to time Muslims can experience misunderstandings and prejudices that can affect how the faithful communicate with each other. To ensure that every Muslim maintains strong communication, understanding, and appreciation for each other, here are some tips on how to strengthen communication with fellow Muslims in Allah's will. Firstly, it is important to keep an open mind and respect the individual opinions and values of fellow Muslims. To gain a better understanding of the experiences of others, it is advised to actively listen to their stories and perspectives on a particular issue with patience and empathy. This will allow

A Response to the recent acts of burning the Qur’an across parts of the world, most recently in Sweden

A Response to the recent acts of burning the Qur’an across parts of the world, most recently in Sweden Over the many centuries since the dawn of Islam, the noble Qur’an, the sacred book and final revelation from Allah, has been held in the highest regard for Muslims the world over. Its significance, importance, and reverence can hardly be understated, the Qur’an is a source of guidance, strength, and hope, and one of the primary pillars of Islam. Therefore, the recent acts of burning the Qur’an across parts of the world, most recently in Sweden, are an affront to myself, my faith, and all believers of Islam. In my opinion, it is a curse on the entire world as it disregards and disrespects the divine revelation sent by Allah. To be clear, it is not only those who have taken part in such horrible blasphemy who are responsible for this sin. It is also the fault of those who stood by and watched the desecration without standing up or lifting a finger to protect the Qur’an. This lack of a
