World Without Islam, written by Graham E. Fuller is a book that provides a compelling account of the world as it could have been without the presence of Islam and its teachings. The book aims to highlight the important role that religion has had in the development of world history. In this reflection, I will summarize the main points of the book and reflect on its importance in better understanding the world today.

The primary aspects addressed in World Without Islam are the importance of Islam in providing religious, cultural, scientific, and economic progress. Fuller explores the implications of what would happen to the world if this religion did not exist and how this absence would affect the current global climate. He highlights the critical role Islam has had in inspiring critical thinkers, providing freedom of speech, advancing science, and fostering social, political, and economic prosperity. Fuller argues that due to the teachings of Islam—such as the importance of knowledge, justice, and tolerance—various parts of the world have seen great progress over the centuries. Consequently, if these positive aspects of religion were absent, it is likely that various parts of the world, especially the Middle East, may have seen a much darker and more oppressive history.

In addition to highlighting the benefits of religion in promoting social progress, Fuller also delves into the role Islam has had in uniting many different areas of the world. He points out that even though different cultures may have different traditions, they are still able to find common ground when it comes to their faiths. Studies have also suggested that this religious bond is considerably more effective than the other political, cultural, or ideological divides that may separate different nations. Additionally, he argues that the Islamic faith can also help countries become more harmonious and agreeable with one another.

Ultimately, Fuller’s book provides an important reminder of the profound influence that Islam has had on world history. His research reminds us of the beneficial role it has had in making various parts of the world more peaceful, productive, and equitable. It is important to remember then that in order to keep this progress moving forward, it is important to recognize and respect the tenets of this religion in order to promote a more harmonious world. Furthermore, it is also important to note that without Islam, the world could have been very different and the progress that has been made in various countries may not have taken hold. Therefore, if one wants to better understand the importance of Islam in our current world, World Without Islam would be a great resource to peruse.

Experiencing the Country's Best Coffee – A Review of the Library Coffee + Study

Algazelus 06.27.23 The latest addition to the list of famed coffee shops in the city of Zamboanga is no other than the Library Coffee + Study . This particular coffee shop is remarkable for providing both coffee and study services. On one end, they have separate rooms perfect for group study, and on the other, an array of ample space for individuals who prefer some peace and quiet while they study. Recently, I visited the Library Coffee + Study to have a sip of their specialty coffee and learn more about the character of this place. Prior to my visit, however, I was told that they serve an array of coffees ranging from iced cappuccino to hot Americano. My thirst for hot Americano, however, was long overdue and I was eager to take a seat and dig in. I have tasted several americanos in a range of coffee shops, if I may add, and this particular experience promised to bruise my expectations. It turns out, the barista who served me informed me that they use imported arabica coffee bea...

Mindanao and Sulu Archipelago: Home To A Diverse Farming And Fishing Industry

Algazelus 06.11.22 Thesis Statement: In the past few decades, the economy of the Muslim-inhabited Sulu Archipelago of the Philippines has been severely affected by climate change, deforestation, armed conflict, and the influx of foreign corporate-run fishing vessels. This has led to a decrease in the resources available to sustain their traditional coffee farming and fish harvesting industries, severely limiting the economic activities of the people living there and putting their livelihoods at risk. The Sulu Archipelago of the Philippines is home to a diverse farming and fishing industry. For the last few decades, the main source of income for the Muslim communities that inhabit these islands are coffee farming and fish harvesting and culturing. Despite their importance, these industries have been affected by various issues that have had a major impact on the lives of the people who depend on them. In today’s world, farmers and fish harvesting in Mindanao and the Sulu Archipelag...

BATTLE OF JOLO: WHAT HAPPENED LAST FEBRUARY 7, 1974

BATTLE OF JOLO - FEBRUARY 7, 1974: OUR NARRATIVE Algazelus This is our narrative. February 7, 1974, is a date that is etched in the minds of every Tausug, including myself, as a crucial turning point in our history. It marks the day when the town of Jolo, in Sulu, was burned down by government forces as part of their fight against the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF). As a Tausug from Sulu, this event is not just a distant memory but a reality that still haunts us today. Despite being born years after the burning of Jolo, I have grown up listening to stories of the event from my elders and reading about it in history books. But it wasn’t until I reached adulthood that I fully understood the significance and impact of what happened on that fateful day. The burning of Jolo, also known as the siege of Jolo, was a military confrontation between the MNLF and the government of the Philippines. The MNLF, led by Nur Misuari, was fighting for the self-determination of the Bangsamoro people...
